ANTIBIOTIC ZONE READER
PEW-31

An antibiotic zone reader is used for determining the strength of antibiotic materials by measuring the diameter of the inhibited zone in a petri dish. The process of determination with this instrument is rapid, accurate and reliable.

Assembly and Working

Antibiotic zone reader measures the diameter of the inhibited zone to 1mm within a range of 0 to 35 mm. The light from a source in the base passes up through the transparent and semi-transparent portions of agar. Then, it gets reflected by a mirror, supported with an arm above the unit, to a glass prism mounted at the front of unit. The magnified image of the zone inhibition is clearly visible on the prism.

TABLET DISINTEGRATION TEST MACHINE
PEW-32

Assembly and Working

The equipment is assembled in a mild steel cabinet and finished with enamel paint. A shaft mounted on the upper platform of the cabinet is moved up and by a fraction HP motor. A horizontal stripe with a clamp at one end is screwed to the shaft. A basket having 6 tubes (7.75 cm long) with a disc of stainless steel wire gauze (10 sieves) is fixed to the clamp. A 1000 cc glass beaker, filled with the water, is kept under the basket. The water in the beaker is maintained at 37OC. The temperature is controlled by an energy regulator with an accuracy of ± 2OC. The shaft moves the basket vertically up and down through a distance of 5 cm. At the highest position of the basket, the gauze remains at about 2.5 cm below the surface of the water. At the lower position, it remains 2.5 cm up from the bottom of the beaker. The complete up and down cycle of the basket is repeated thirty times per minute.

Accessories

Supplied with Beakers, Horizontal clamp, Basket rack assembly with 6 tubes (size Six no.), Guided Discs as required.

FRIABILITY TEST APPARATUS
PEW-33

Assembly and Working

The apparatus incorporates a transparent acrylic drum which is rotated at fixed revolutions per minute.

The drum consists of a curved blade that carries the tablets up to a predetermined height. The tablets slide off as the rotation of the drum continues. This way, without any hard impact the tablets rub against each other under the same pressure.

TABLET DISSOLUTION RATE TEST EQUIPMENT
PEW-34

Assembly and Working

A constant temperature acrylic water bath of 30.5cm X 20.5cm X and 23cm is fitted with a thermostatic control which maintains the water at 37OC, with an accuracy of ± 0.5OC.

A cylindrical glass vessel (capacity 1000ml), has its sides flanged at the top.

The shaft of the motor is placed at the center which also has an arrangement for placing a thermometer.

A motor is fitted with an electronic speed regulator which allows the speed to be varied between 25rpm to 250rpm.

The shaft is 6mm in diameter and about 30cm in length.

BULK DENSITY APPARATUS
PEW-35

Bulk density apparatus is specially designed to study the packing down powder beds of different pharmaceuticals and chemical powders.

Assembly and Working

A central shaft carries a platform holding two glass cylinders of capacity 50ml each. The platform moves up and down at the rate of 30 strokes per minute through a distance of 5 cm and strikes on a rubber cushioned bed. A mechanical timer is provided to set the duration of strokes. The body is finished in enamel paint.
